Devil in the Details: A Billionaire Reverse Age-Gap Workplace Romance

Rate this book
As a pleasure concierge at The River, New York City’s elite, water-themed adult club, I thought I’d seen it all. Until I find my new boss in my private lagoon, ready to submit.

Publishing mogul Elinora Iverson is an ice queen, and the billionaire divorcee rules her empire with an iron fist. No one dares to challenge her — until she offers me a temporary position with her company’s romance imprint, and we lock horns on my very first day.

I don’t know anything about meet cutes or falling in love. “Happy endings” and pleasure? Well, that’s a totally different story. One I’m more than qualified to edit since I moonlight at The River. With my experience bringing beautiful women to a boil, steamy books prove no match for me. Elinora, on the other hand . . .

Determined to prove myself, I work long hours at the office, hoping she’ll see me as a worthy employee. No matter how hard we try to avoid it, sparks fly whenever we’re in the same room. Mercury really rises when the club hosts a masquerade party, and my two worlds collide.

Elinora doesn’t know I’m the stranger behind the mask. Or that I’ve fantasized about her since the moment we met. The line between reality and fantasy blurs when she calls out my name in the darkness. As we melt into each other, she makes it clear she doesn’t want to share me.

There’s only one I’m bound to another woman.

When you make a deal with the Devil herself, the Devil’s in the details.

Aria Wyatt is a pharmacist mom who spends the inhumane predawn hours with a cup of coffee and her laptop, gleefully indulging in her passion for romance. Her novels range in heat from steamy to scorching, and she doesn’t shy away from writing flawed characters with real life issues.

She resides with her husband and two children in New York’s picturesque Hudson Valley, near the Catskills and iconic Woodstock. The avid reader balances marriage, motherhood, her pharmacist career, and her romance author dream. When not writing, she dabbles in photography, using the natural beauty of the region to her advantage. She’s a self-proclaimed cat lady who cannot live without coffee, chocolate, music, and books.

Author of True North and the Compass Series, Aria has a soft spot for those who are searching, yearning, and ultimately, finding. Whether on a mission to find themselves, find love, find forgiveness or solace, she believes the answer is out there somewhere.

Elinora & Lincoln

This book starts out with an insta-lust between prospective boss and employee. I was a little skeptical at first with the way things began with these two, but the way the sparks flew once the initial connection was revealed could’ve set the pages on fire!

The chemistry between Elinora and Lincoln is off the charts hot! Their story flows very well and the reader gets to watch this couple build a beautiful relationship.

The imagery and imagination the author uses to build “The River” is so realistic. Seriously, someone needs to build this club!
The relationships between all the side characters are well built and you can see the development of life-long friendships.

My one critique was the main conflict resolution didn’t quite wow me like the rest of the book did, but as good as the rest of the book was, that’s merely a blip in the radar for me.

Overall to say I enjoyed this book is an understatement! It is sweet and spicy and also made me cry, however, I could not put it down!

Make sure you look for the trigger warnings if darker content upsets you.

This book is fabulous! With a truly charming, lovely hero and a heroine who is guarding her heart as a result of previous hurts, Devil in the Detail succeeds in combining a beautiful love story with plotline which includes manipulation by a ruthless character which places our beautiful Lincoln in a dreadful situation. His care for others is huge and now Elinora is one of those who have his heart and loyalty. He is such a loving man, but also has a dominant streak which makes things so much more interesting! I would love a visit to The River myself 🤩.
Well written and with great characters, Devil in the Details has been a rewarding and riveting read 💖💖💖💖💖

No other woman has reached the ranks in publishing that Elinora Iverson has. She rules her company with strength and tenacity, but her divorce has destroyed a part of her self-esteem. Her newest editor is young but talented and even though she feels drawn to him he's too young and she no longer trusts that men aren't just after her money. When Elinora's assistant and bff convinces her to come to The River for a mermaid-themed masquerade for new members she's more than ready for the promised relaxation, just maybe a little shocked at the details her friend neglected to tell her. Elinora never expected to experience the best sex of her life, and by a stranger that demanded her submission. But why did she keep thinking of her new editor the entire evening?

Lincoln desperately needs this new editing job to help his family but his first day he's quickly butting heads with his new boss. This wealthy ice queen quickly puts Lincoln in his place, assigning him to the romance department. His secret side job as a pleasure concierge at The River helps to make ends meet but the last person he expected to see assigned to his private lagoon was his new boss. This is one secret that could get him fired. But he quickly realizes the boss he's been drawn to has a darker side and the two experience the hottest night of their lives together. Thanks to their masks she has no idea who she just spent the evening with. With Elinora's trust issues and their fledgling relationship growing will Lincoln be able to keep his secret, and at what cost when so much hangs in the balance?

This book was seriously incredible. Although lengthy, it didn't feel like it. The character and plot development were fantastic and the surprises that popped up throughout as details were revealed kept this book interesting and alive!

Please familiarize yourself with the trigger warnings for this book!

I received an ARC and freely offer this review.

3,5 rounded down. I found the first part in Falling for the Enemy: A Charity Anthology and I think it was the first time that a teaser published in an anthology (although such practice usually makes me angry) actually convinced me to buy the whole book. It was well written, and the fact that the MMC is a book editor speaks for itself. It was also refreshing that the age gap and power positions were reversed (not only the woman is older but she’s the boss as well) - contrary to the most frequent settings we find in these tropes.

Elsa meets Clark Kent!

What a book! Elinora, the beautifully cold, powerful, divorced CEO of Iverson Press, and Lincoln, the family hero, struggling editor 10 years her junior, meet during his job interview where she gives him a chance to prove himself as an editor for romance novels.

Their story develops as they get to know each other better despite never acting on the intense attraction to one another. Enter Lincoln’s employment, or rather indebtment to work at The River, a spa club focused on pleasures.

Throughout the book they experience nights at The River, emergency sickness, surgery and health issues, the dynamics of family and friendships, a god-awful ex-husband, secrets, and trust issues, just to name a few, all while attempting to keep their work relationship professional.

These two go on quite an exciting and spicy ride together! Can they both give each other what they truly want and need? Will Lincoln be tied to another woman forever? You will need to read to see what the HEA looks like for these two! You won’t be disappointed!

Oh my word!!! This book was like nothing I’ve ever read and I want so much more!!! Lincoln and Elinora were perfection!!! Of course their getting there was all the fun. I have to admit, I laughed at situations that happened to these two but there is a lot of angst which I love as well as intimate moments that made me swoon. Elinora is an independent business owning queen. She knows what she wants in her business but her personal life is a bit of a mess. The suggestion that she attend a private club is not lost in her. The private club turns out to be everything she needed. In more ways than one. Lincoln is looking for a way to achieve his career goals and Elinora’s company is hiring for almost exactly what he wants. But Lincoln might be living a double life. His job at the private club keeps his sister’s life going. His career and his personal life intertwine more than he expects.
The two of them together are explosive. I loved how the two lives they lead interconnect in many ways. The friendships that Lincoln have were so vital to their HEA but the road there was rocky to say the least.

This book is everything! So delightfully delicious, smexy, emotional and fantastic.

Hidden identity, workplace romance, age gap are some of my favorite tropes and Aria delivers a masterpiece. The characters are so beautifully written with their flaws, insecurities and their need for love.

Elinora comes across as a fierce, demanding business woman who doesn’t have the best reputation. Deep down she is filled with doubt and insecurities. I feel there’s a good woman on the inside …she’s just lost her way.

Lincoln…oh Lincoln. He is so kind, smexy, thoughtful and determined to get his name back in the business world. He is leading a double life with some other issues thrown in…he needs to be brave and stand up for himself.

These two bring fire, passion, determination and genuine care to their interesting relationship. They help one another fight their battles and help each other see the goodness inside one another.

This is a phenomenal read that will have you binging the book, falling in love with the characters and being left with a major book hangover.

This book. My love and obsession or it is strong. I devoured it and it was difficult to put it down at times.

Lincoln and Elinora have an instant connection but he is 10 years younger than her and her employee. However, things are different at The River and lines are blurred and roles are reversed. The chemistry is off the charts between these two. Lincoln….well his nickname of Clark Kent is very fitting. IYKYK. Elinora is just a BA boss and despite her being called an Ice Queen, there is a lot more to her.

This book has the spice, the emotion, the banter. I love the concept of The River. I loved everything about this story.

I LOVE this world and I hope that there will be more of it in the future, because there are some people that I would love to read stories for.

If you’re looking for a billionaire, reverse age gap, work place, forbidden, spicy romance check this one out.

This book is wonderful. Aria continues to show all her potential as an author, when she wrote this story. The protagonist and antagonists are so well explained and developed that it makes it a very easy to read plot. Totally touching and emotional. I laughed and suffered with the story, but I would definitely read this book again.

Lincoln is such a resilient and responsible man; but above all a very good man, son, brother and partner. He is a person who is undoubtedly a total fighter, regardless of all the adversities that happen to him, and there are some of them.
On the other hand, Elinora is a distinguished woman who has obviously worked hard to be where she is currently and who for reasons of life and choices, has suffered on the sentimental side.

Without a doubt, it is such a colorful story, with ups and downs like all ordinary life but with touches of emotion, passion and tears.

Aria Wyatt's books are 100% recommended.

Ok, first I need to confess this was my first Aria Wyatt book and I’m so mad for sitting on this amazing author! Because OMG this book was emotional, sexy, intriguing. It was literally all the things!
From page one this book had me in its clutches and I couldn’t get enough! I really loved all of the characters, even the side characters were amazing.
Elinora and Lincoln were the best combination of dominants that also needed more out of life. I loved the push they gave one another in and out of the office. They ran my feelings all over the place, had me fanning my face and smiling like a loon. They gave me the best book hangover and have me wanting more and more from this series! Oh and I learned that if you fell for Garrett like I did you can read his story in Masquerade…ask me what I’m reading next?!?

Thank you to the author for the reverse age gap and the fact the woman is successful. Rare thing nowadays.

Elinora and Lincoln have sparks flying from the start when he interviews for a job at her publishing firm. And then to make it even better, she goes to a sex club and has one super erotic night with him in disguise. Let’s say you’ll need a fire extinguisher for those scenes. Pretty soon she finds out I’m his side job but that begins a journey of two people who are made for each other.

But of course there is those speed bumps they encounter and believe me I became frustrated because they were avoidable. But then the book would have been boring. Need that angst and misunderstanding so the reader can get those makeup scenes.

I love, love, love this story!! Elinora, the ice Queen publishing house CEO, self made millionaire & Lincoln, the gorgeous but struggling genius editor overwhelmed with his debts & family responsibilities were exactly what each other needed.

Aside from that one bad character, The River sounds awesome, a real pleasure spa! Where do I sign up!! While it’s got a good bit of spice, it’s not too dark! The perfect place for those who want to experience the thought of a sex club without the over the top kinky stuff.

With so many fabulous characters needing their stories told, this has to become a series!!❤️ 10/10⭐️!!! Totally recommend!

The blurb alone hooked me!

This weekend I was at a book signing and following all the authors I met. Devil in the Details was the first book that popped up for Aria Wyatt while I was standing in line waiting to chat with her. I started the blurb, and before I even got to her booth I had already purchased it. I was HOOKED and it just continued through every page. I enjoyed this story so much. It was hot, it had great depth of characters, the story kept me pulled in and I couldn't wait to get to the next page to see what was coming next!

Loved older woman younger man

Elinora is referred to by many as the Ice Queen, the fact that she resembles Elsa doesn’t help. She has been burned before, in both professional and home life. Then in waltzes Lincoln. She is hesitant to trust him at first, then she falls for him something she never thought possible, until a ghost from his pasts almost destroys their love. Their chemistry is off the charts amazing and the growth of the characters is believable and honest. When they finally break down their walls and connect it’s explosive Great read

Het was wel oke hoor. 80 procent. Jammer dat haar 15 jaar oudere ex man 3x vreemd is gegaan wtf

amazing work

This book evoked true raw emotions from me! Never has a book done that to the extent of this piece of art. I already loved this author’s work, but woah! It is such a good read I truly recommend it to anyone who isn’t afraid to laugh or cry or be slightly outraged by the actions of a character, hands down in the top 3 for best books I’ve read this year or maybe even ever..

Interesting Romance

This is the first book I've read by this author and realise I probably should have read Masquerade first, but I very much enjoyed it. The storyline was certainly very unusual with the male lead working as a romance editor and sex club worker! I actually enjoyed the parts about the editing process as much as the steamy sex and rather tortured romance. I wish characters would just tell each other all the important things then we wouldn't have all the angst!

4.5 Elinora is a tough business woman. Lincoln is hired in hopes that he will shine as an editor. The two each have there issues but they also are drawn to one another. Then there is The River a very interesting part of the story. All in all it was written well to keep you engaged in the story. This was my first book by this author. Can't wait to read more.

Great read! Well written, engaging, HOT 🔥🔥🔥🔥. I LOVED both Elinora and Lincoln’s character development throughout the book (and the side characters added even more depth). I went into this not knowing the author or her writing, but I will most definitely be looking for more from her. Would recommend!

4.5 stars! I loved Lincoln - he's the perfect book boyfriend. The (very) spicy parts as well as the more serious themes were very well written. I knocked off half a star because I can't believe the FMC started a publishing firm from the ground up and she's already insanely successful and wealthy at just 35 years old, and I wasn't crazy about the epilogue.

Solid 4.5 stars. This book introduced me to Aria Wyatt, and it was better than expected. I stumbled upon it while looking for a "reverse age gap" dark romance, and it didn't disappoint. The chemistry between Elinora and Lincoln was logical and realistic, as were many of the events in the story. The character development, sex scenes, internal thoughts, and relationships among all the characters were solid.

I read this book very quickly. The premise was good but I could see the third act break up happening a mile away. It was a little predictable and communication between characters could be better. I hate the miscommunication trope. Overall it was a great story and I loved that it was in a profession that we don't see stories in a lot.

I loved Elinora and Lincoln's story! The love that these two had for each other despite all the odds was unbelievable. The chemistry was off the charts, and I loved the premise of the spa kink club.

Lincoln is down on his luck and needs a job. His friend Miles gets him an interview with the publishing company he works for, and that's when the secrets, hidden appeal, and attraction begin.

Elinora is coming out of a bad marriage and her friend invites her to explore the "spa" that she is a member of but when Elinora gets to experience what the club has to offer she can't stop thinking about the man that took her place she has never been before.

I don't want to give anything away, but this book is amazing! There are twists that will have you rooting for the underdog and searching online for a blindfold and feather. If you love workplace romance, kink clubs, and age gap, then you don't want to miss out on this book because Lincoln and Elinora will be your new obsession!

Great story!

I loved this story! The MMC was so sweet and loving but also a total bada$$.
The FMC started out rigid and uptight but she came out of her shell with some coaxing and steam by the MMC!
I thought the whole story was a great read, and so thankful it was recommended to me!
