Her Fire

Rate this book
His touch will be her annihilation.

Ila Baden is haunted by a book; a fragile, old, burned book left to rot in her late grandfather's attic. Though she feels an immediate draw to it, she ultimately has no use for an empty antique damaged beyond repair. She leaves it to be junked, but the ancient being for whom the tome is a conduit will not let her go so easily.

Idris is a ghost, a beast, a demon. He is everything Ila did not know she was missing, every dark faerie tale she wished were true. He is as kind as he is brutal, as tender as he is possessive. He scares her, captivates her, reignites the ashes of a long buried desire in her.

After all: Ila is his to love, to claim, to consume. His heart, his blood, his fated mate. Only in annihilation by his hand will she understand that everything she thought she knew about herself, her life, her very being, was nothing but a lie.

My name is Namiin Stone, and I live in fantasy worlds full of strife and grief--though they are worlds overfull with love and longing, too. Full of a tender ache in the space where darkness and desire coalesce into the surreal, the avant garde, the taboo.

I am an erotic romance incest author and illustrator with a singular story I tell without shame, time and again: a tale of father/daughter romance fraught with tension, with desire, with an inescapable--and sometimes supernatural--need to be together. I write romance and erotic romance set in different established universes, with different iterations of the same characters.

I remember Namiin's beautiful artwork when she was posting on Tumblr before the purge a few years ago, so I was delighted to see it again in a FB group as a book cover! I'm always hungry for a well written SUPER TABOO romance and this one is so beautiful and original.

This one is father/daughter (with a paranormal twist). The hero spends most of the book in a non-corporeal form so they find a lot of creative and hot ways to bang it out alongside an enthralling and twisty-turny story.

When he started with the "good girl" I melted through the flooooor. Can't wait for book 2!

Okay... I have been so impatiently waiting to read this since I read the blurb for it. And let me tell you, I was NOT disappointed! I mean... 🔥🔥🔥. This far exceeded my expectations!

I don't want to give any spoilers so I'll keep this brief, but Namiin Stone is a badass and her writing is incredible. I also very much admire her for bringing this story to life. It's hard to find true taboo romance and she DELIVERED 👏 I absolutely loved the characters - they are very well developed and easy to connect with. The storyline kept me hooked from the start. Just 5 stars across the board!

I cannot wait for book 2.

My ARC Reader review:

* Spoilers *

Namiin Stone had outdid herself on this masterpiece. It had me on the edge of my seat as a reader. I was suck in by how beautifully the book was written. The storytelling was phenomenal. It was like watching a beautiful horror movie unfold before your eyes.

It felt like it was a mix of The Babadook and The Candyman. I gotta say the sex scenes were amazing. One scene, where Ila used Tim ,to pleasure herself ,while Idris was there as an unknown third, had my panties flying.

I’m excited for book two, His Blood, to come out soon. However, I will wait patiently.

I was blessed enough to be able to read the ARC of this book and it’s the first ARC I’ve ever done. I’m so happy to report that I was enthralled from the beginning. The plot is simple enough to follow easily, the characters are fleshed out enough that I was able to remember every single one even when they’d only been introduced fairly fleetingly. Every character makes a distinct impression, especially of course Ila and Idris. The paranormal aspects of the story were so well detailed that my vivid imagination could conjure all kinds of fun little details and gave this a totally awesome “haunted house” feel for the first half or so of the story which, for me, is amazing. I’m a huge lover of all things supernatural!

One can definitely tell that there are incredibly personal experiences that went into the narrative and the characterizations. Complicated emotions are portrayed in such a way to be immediately relatable without the reader getting bogged down with over-description, the author able to utilize language in such a concise manner that it’s almost wild to think that other writers have to rely on purple prose to get across the same concepts.

This might also be the very first erotic novel that’s ever made me titter and blush at bluntly sexual words—words I never thought I would find sexy have been wielded so WELL as to make me completely rethink their usage and how I look at them within stories. For this alone this book feels MAGICAL.

I can’t wait to read the next one so I can titter and blush over more!

I couldn't put this book down. First of all the writing was phenomenal. The way the author managed to create and tell this story was amazing. It had me hooked from the very beginning.

Now for the story itself I don't want to say too much about it. This is definitely one of those books that you go in blind. I didn't know what I was expecting when I started reading but it definitely blew my mind.

It was very different from anything ive ever read before. Its a taboo story but it didn't feel like it. I knew why the story is taboo before I started (content warnings in authors website) but as I was reading i couldn't help but root for the characters. They just seemed so perfect for one another.

Definitely recommend to anyone thats looking for a taboo paranormal romance!!

A superb weaving of a believable, flawed, and likable protagonist, macabre horror, and truthful, organic romance. A fresh take on fated mates and demons compared to the many other novels I've read. Highly recommend!

Wow. The prose, the story, all of it, STUNNING. The taboo aspect doesn't come about until the last 5% of the book. I cannot WAIT for book 2.

Mind-Fuckery ~ The best kind

Ever suffer from a book hangover? The kind where it takes you several days (a week, that is) to articulate your thoughts, and still, the best you can come up with is "What the actual fuck?"

No?

Just me?

Well, this book is that for me, and I mean that in all the best ways.

I knew what I was getting myself into when I first requested an ARC. Just as I know I will order a paperback of it, and it will go on my shelf. And anytime anyone asks me about it, I'll give it to them, but only if they dare to have everything they think they know challenged and turned upside down.

I can guarantee you this book will do that for you. To you.

Whatever. I have no words.

Oh, who am I kidding? Of course, I have words!

There's a lot to love about this book. If the cover and blurb didn't capture your attention, the first chapter will.

Am I a sucker for an age-gap story? Absolutely!

And just in case the blurb doesn't make this clear, the cover tells you that not only is there a huge age-gap between the hero and heroine, there's also a size difference. Physical size difference - get your mind out of the gutter. Eh, leave it there, that's what we're here for, is it not? Then there's the taboo aspect that is made clear from the get-go (read the blurb, content warnings, etc. Namiin puts those there for a reason).

It's a dark, paranormal romance story. I repeat - DARK and PARANORMAL. Anything goes, okay? ANYTHING.

On the one hand, you have Ila, a heroine who struggles to fit into a world she was never meant to fit into. And even after she 'meets' our hero, Idris (who is clearly not human), she still wants to hold on to her humanity in the face of everything. The story is told from her POV, so you get to experience this journey with her.

Then you have Idris, a man who's not really a man, who comes off as having his own self-serving agenda in the beginning. I'll be honest, I had mixed feelings about what his intentions with her were in the beginning, and as we uncover the various layers to him, you can't help it but root for him. For them both too.

I thoroughly enjoyed how well-rounded and dynamic these characters are. In the beginning, it all seems like fun and games (y'know, because of what she's doing, not spoiling it for you here); but no. This is Namiin we're talking about. And this is Idris and Ila we're talking about, a duo whom she has written about in different contexts. There’s angst. There’s turmoil. There’s heartache and heartbreak. And these characters grow and evolve as the book progresses. Each was a piece of the puzzle and they fit the best together

And, I'll be honest - I kinda wanted Ila to die in the end. Y'know, because my mind really is that twisted. And she didn't fit in the human world anyway, so letting go of her humanity is to be expected. But that ending - whew! It's as vague as it gets.

Yes, it ends on a cliffhanger. There will be a second book, His Blood.

Now, let's all rally together and cheer Namiin on, so she can bring us a second masterpiece!

WOW!!! This was an incredible story, and I am just blown away by how amazing and utterly titillating it was. It far exceeded my expectations of a hot and steamy true taboo PNR romance story. It was gritty, raw, emotional, dark, twisted, and depraved. I was instantly riveted to my seat, biting my nails like crazy with anticipation, and gasping at all of the deliciously perfect moments between the characters.

The writing was brilliant, and the storyline was creative, unique and kept me sinking deeper and deeper into Ila and Idris’ lives. Everything about it was dark and deliciously sexy from start to finish. I never wanted it to end and now I am waiting on bated breath for part two.

I am having a very hard time finding the words to describe how I feel about this book.
Her Fire sucks you in from page one and doesn't let go until the very end, leaving you flustered, with all the feelings.
If you enjoy Supernatural romance books, or taboo romance (or both) be sure to pick this one up. Definitely recommend.

If you haven't read any of the Ila and Idris novellas, this book will make you want to run and grab all of them! This book is a slow burn, but the story is written well enough to keep you engaged the whole time. The last 5 - 10% of the book are when the taboo portion comes into play...but that just means book 2 is going to be all the taboo you want/need. I love Ila and Idris in all their different stories, and this book was no different! Since this is a duet, it ends on a cliffhanger so be prepared for that. I'm dying to know the rest of the story and can't wait for book 2!!!

I have not been able to read for several years. I get way too distracted and find myself unable to focus. But this book hooked me, hard, and left me wanting more, yearning for the second book. I am so glad this was the first book I was able to read after so long. I was expecting this to be amazing, and it went so far beyond!

I thought I knew what I was getting into when I picked up this novel, due to knowing the characters through Namiin's other work. Instead, I was absolutely floored by how well crafted the story was. It's phenomenally well written and is such a beautiful horror and thrilling romance that grips you by the throat and won't let go until you reach the end, panting and exhilarated and eager for more.

If you don't think the taboo aspect is your thing, I implore you to give it a shot anyways; the first ten chapters have nothing taboo in nature but you will be enthralled regardless by her masterful storytelling and compelling characters. Namiin's work has never been taboo for the sake of taboo (not that there's anything wrong with it, the market is just oversaturated with it). It's a brilliantly constructed romance that just so happens to be taboo in nature, but doesn't beat you over the brow with it. I earnestly believe that Namiin is a trailblazer, creating art that refuses to fit into neat and tidy little boxes, or conform to tried and true tropes.

The main character, Ila, isn't some simpering damsel in distress; she has agency and her choices matter, she's a multifaceted character who has a job, friends, family, and hobbies. She doesn't exist solely as a romance heroine, despite very much being in a romance story. And of course the love interest, Idris... he's so deeply human despite not being human at all; there are times he seems sinister but it is merely a lack of human morality. He fucks up plenty and isn't a perfect, flawless man who can do no wrong and is amazing at everything. The way these two navigate one another is a seductive dance, pushing and pulling and intertwining throughout the story as they run into and overcome one obstacle after another.

And while few romance novels take the time to make elaborate side characters, Namiin ensures every character is their own person, fully fleshed out and realized with lives of their own outside of their interactions with the main characters, even if it happens off page. Everyone and everything in this book is lovingly created, and it shows in the overarching themes and repeating (but not repetitive) subject matter that take you through a thoroughly enjoyable and memorable tale as old as time, told like never before; a young woman falling in love with a beast, willingly handing herself over to who should, by his own admission, be the villain of her story.

I am eagerly awaiting the second novel, and after reading this one for yourself, you will be too!

A romantic and sizzling hot, slowburn paranormal romance, with a good dose of father/daughter incest.

Ghostly sex scenes, Dom/sub dynamics, and some sweet romance. I liked that while Idris and Ila are bound together, Idris still wanted to give her a way out, and would have let her go if she had wished. Despite the taboo topics, the romance really was sweet and focused a lot on consent. (Except for poor mortal guy.)

I loved Ila as a character, including her unusual hobbies with book restoration and bones. I laughed at her coworker saying he didn't know girls were into taxidermy, and immediately sent it to my friend (girl) who likes to collect dead animals and bones :)

It was interesting because the author's note at the beginning tells you that this is a father/daughter romance, but Ila actually doesn't find out until much later in, and she has another man she calls father. So I spent most of the book wondering how that's going to fit together, and it didn't disappoint.

The book definitely ends on a sort of cliffhanger, and I'm excited to read the sequel.

I think this would be my first time reading horror romance. It was refreshing and giving me new feelings.

Her Fire follows a story of Ila who was haunted by a book and Idris was a demon/ghost.

What I like:
• Their relationship! The way it works, the dynamic and their interactions was mind blowing
• The concept and the plot were good
• The characters were interesting and I love the fact that this book really focused on the mc

What I didn’t really enjoy:
• It was slow burn alright. But too slow for me. I’m dying for something to happen between them
• The taboo aspect didn’t appear until the end of the book. I’m waiting for it.

I think if book 2 was a bit fast pace I would definitely enjoyed it. I’m looking forward to read the next book! Curious on how their relationship will be developed and how their story will went.

Thanks to @obsidianauthorservices for the arc copy💚💚

This is like nothing I've ever read in the genre before.

It's unique, it's filled with this torturous slow build of romance, love and desire. Namiin is a genius.

I am however pretty much ready to scream at her for the next book though.

I did enjoy much about this book, I would’ve enjoyed more but there were a lot of repetitive details that didn’t seem necessary. My adhd makes it hard to not skip over those parts. The ending was an absolute cliffhanger!

Couldn't put this book down in the slightest. I'm super excited for the next book with the incredible cliffhanger. Taboo, paranormal, and beautifully erotic.

Namiin Stone's erotic art was what originally drew me in and made me want to read her work.
